Pastoral and Teaching Team

PASTORAL SUCCESSION

Pastor Ed initiated the conversation about pastoral succession in 2022 with the formal process starting in

2023. The planning aspects are now complete, and we are moving toward implementation. A few

highlights:

• Pastor Ed led a multi-year process characterized as collaborative and collegiate with the elders

and senior leadership team. This process has been systematic and not rushed, allowing for

prayer, discussion, communication with the fellowship, and ultimately discerning the Holy

Spirit’s direction.

• The leadership team recognized Chris and Cara Bove’s love for our church and their faithful

service since attending regularly in 2019. The team unanimously affirmed Chris’ call to ministry

through observing his character and marriage, personal interviews, his depth and ability to

teach the Bible, the positive response of the fellowship to his leadership, his commitment to

pursue theological education, and his own testimony. The outcome is that God has provided us

someone whose heart is known to us and reflects our DNA and the direction of the Holy Spirit

for our body.

• The transition began on July 1,  2025 as Chris takes on the role of full-time Associate Lead Pastor

role with primary teaching responsibilities on Sunday. Pastor Ed’s focus during the transition is

on coaching, mentoring Chris and staff along with governance. A full transition is expected in

March 2027, which marks our 40th anniversary as a church.
