our story

In the summer of 1986, the Lord brought Pastor Ed Conway together with a group of 10-15 people who began meeting for Bible study in Lowell. As the Bible study grew, the fellowship officially became a church in March 1987, meeting at the Moody School in Lowell.

By the fall of 1990, the church had grown to approximately 100 people and moved into a rented facility. As the congregation continued to grow, it relocated to Stedman Street before, through God's gracious provision, purchasing its current home at 131 Stedman in the fall of 1993.

Over the years, the Lord continued to provide opportunities for ministry. In 2013, the church added an outdoor playground and recreational space known as The Field @ 147. In May 2014, we became a multi-congregation church, adding a campus in Manchester, New Hampshire, expanding the church's ministry into southern New Hampshire. Today, Calvary Chapel Chelmsford continues to gather for worship, Bible teaching, fellowship, and discipleship through weekend services, home fellowships, and small groups.

After faithfully serving as Senior Pastor for forty years, Pastor Ed transitioned into a new season of life and ministry in 2026, continuing to serve the church as Founding Pastor, through coaching,  pastoral care, and governance support. Pastor Chris Bove now serves as Lead Pastor, carrying forward the church's commitment to faithfully teach God's Word and shepherd His people.

As we look ahead, we remain committed to the same mission that marked those first Bible studies in 1986: loving God, loving people, and making disciples as we seek to glorify Christ in the Merrimack Valley and wherever He leads.
